More Dap, Though No One Asked

Thanks to everyone who braved the remnants of Danny and came out to Saturday’s slideshow. It was a lot of fun, and I hope it was for you too. (Thanks for the beans Dan!)

One of the slides featured my first comic strip, DAP, which I drew when I was 10-years-old. It was a blatant ripoff of Garfield. I scanned two comics, but only used the first one, since it was in color. Here’s the other one that’s sitting on my hard drive; A very meta (for a 10-year-old) Dap cartoon:

In the later part of the notebook, Dap gets Poochy-fied, then I try drawing Beavis and Butthead for no good reason.

  1. Hey Brian…It was nice to meet you, glad you like the beans! You & Keith did a great job…glad I went & looking forward to the next one. You talent was apparent at age 10. Child prodigy! Def beats my 6th grade editorial comic assignment of Oprah’s lipo surgery gone wrong.

  2. You stretched out my Trader Joe’s turkey chili to feed me for another day. You have given me sustenance!

This was the best one. There are about 100 sub-Garfield stinkers in that notebook.

  3. A classic. I remember when I was a kid I’d draw stuff like that.. but with sharks. They were too cool.

Do you ever tour the UK?

  4. Sharks make perfect sense! I have no idea why I went with some fucked-up cockatiel.

I was 16 the last time I was in the UK. I’m hoping to get out there next summer. If there’s enough interest, maybe I’ll do one of these slideshows if I can find a venue.
